What Is Carbon Fiber
- Jul 30, 2018 -

Carbon fiber (carbon fiber, CF) is a kind of new fiber material with high strength and higher modulus fiber with carbon content above 95%. It is composed of flake graphite microcrystalline and other organic fibers along the direction of the fiber axis, by carbonization and graphite treatment of the micro-spar ink material. The carbon fiber "velvet glove", the quality is lighter than the metal aluminum, but the strength is higher than the steel, and has the corrosion resistance, the high modulus characteristic, in the defense military industry and the civilian aspect are important material.

It not only has inherent intrinsic characteristic of carbon material, but also has the soft machinability of textile fiber, it is a new generation of reinforced fiber. Carbon fiber has many excellent properties, the axial strength and modulus of carbon fiber is high, low density, high specific performance, no creep, ultra-high temperature resistance under the oxidation environment, good fatigue resistance, heat and conductivity between nonmetal and metal, small thermal expansion coefficient and anisotropy, good corrosion resistance, good X-ray permeability.

Good conductive thermal conductivity, good electromagnetic shielding and so on.

Compared with the traditional glass fiber, the Young's modulus is 3 times times more than that of the Kevlar fiber, the Young's modulus is about twice times that in organic solvents, acids and alkalis, corrosion resistance is outstanding. February 2018, China fully independently developed the first hundred ton grade T1000 carbon fiber production line.
